Our Philosophy

We’re here to give families the best start possible through the promise of sleep.

In the history of humans, new families were rarely left on their own due to the constant presence and support of extended family and community. We were never meant to go it alone.

Parenting a newborn is one of the most beautiful experiences one can have in life, but it is also one of the most challenging, in equal parts joyful and exhausting.

Getting a good night’s sleep can truly make all the difference.

Amy and Liz work as a team and have chosen to specialize in overnight postpartum doula support because we know the important restorative role sleep plays in everyone’s life, but especially in the lives of new parents. Impaired sleep can also be a contributing factor in the development of postpartum mood disorders. Quite simply, sleep is vital for many, many reasons, but can be hard to come by with a newborn in the home, and that is of course where we come in.

Some describe the experience of becoming a parent for the first time as being akin to suddenly arriving on another planet.

Your view of yourself changes, your view of your partner may adjust, and then, of course, there is suddenly this beautiful squeaky little being whose very survival is dependent upon you and your care, all at a time when you and your partner need so much care as well.

Exactly what our support will look like depends upon the needs of your particular family, but our goal is always to help families feel safe, nurtured, and well-rested. Although our primary role is to care for baby while parents sleep, we are also there to provide breastfeeding support, bottle-feeding wisdom, be a compassionate sounding board for all concerns, and provide evidence-based answers to the questions that will no doubt arise as you get to know your new little one.
